At a moment when almost all has been said about this band, as far as concrete human language can reach, Circle of Ouroborus appear again to surprise and reach even beyond anything they have ever conjured. Completely stripped from Black Metal elements, "Pölysade" dwells purely intro Post-Punk and Alternative Rock territory, albeit always with CoO's sombre ambience and subdued, reverb-drenched sound. One of their darkest and most oppressing releases as of late, this album almost completely lacks the rays of solar bliss and natural wonder that usually pierce through doubt, uncertainty and distress. Like testified by Antti himself, "Pölysade" is a step into the city, its dirty alleyways, rusting handrails and liminal spaces where crowdness becomes barren, abyssal solitude. Atvar's pulsating and twisting bass is ever present, but the guitars run along ghostly arpeggios for the most part, and the keyboards remain perhaps the most shining and most dense driving force of this record that is truly something special among an already and ever more outstanding and special discography.
