This edition of Messe Des Morts is released by Werewolf Records (Finland) and features a 3mm jacket and red 160g vinyl. The material was originally issued as a limited 7" by Necropolis Records (Fremont, California) in 1993. Messe Des Morts documents Beherit at their most stripped-down and direct. Recorded during the transition between the band’s early chaotic style and their later electronic period, the EP presents a minimal, raw approach built around guitar, drum machine, and distinctive vocal experimentation. While the lo-fi foundation recalls the band’s earliest demos, the release also expands on the ritualistic, minimal structures introduced on Drawing Down the Moon. The tracks rely on basic, repetitive riffs and irregular drum machine patterns that shift between slow, mechanical rhythms and sudden blasts. Synthetic textures, short noise interjections, and unconventional vocal processing contribute to a sound that bridges primitive black metal and a more cold, machine-driven atmosphere.
