Weathered Crest – the new project from Vritra of bands including Kringa, Brånd. Seven full songs, bookended with granite-grinding mind cleansers, of cavernous melodic black metal, melancholic euphoria, and elated reverent spirit “dedicated to the fading of mankind’s achievements into forgottendom”. The solemn reflectiveness of the lyrical themes juxtaposes with the volatile pace of the music, in an album which razes the sonic cathedrals it builds in monument to the old schools of black metal, while being resolutely of its time.
