Il progetto Tony Tears nasce nel 1988 per portare in musica le idee del suo leader Antonio Polidori. Nonostante la sua idea iniziale fu quella di mantenere il progetto molto personale per lasciare spazio maggiormente a fare il chitarrista nelle band. Nel tempo cambiò idea e rese pubbliche le sue realizzazioni a nome Tony Tears. Oltre a suonare la chitarra Tony nel suo progetto suona anche: tastiere, basso, batterie elettroniche, voci e scrive i testi delle sue canzoni; tutto questo per molti anni a parte qualche sporadica collaborazione di musicisti nei sui lavori. La svolta definitiva di farsi affiancare da musicisti stabili avviene solo in tempi recenti (poco prima del 2013). La scelta di inserire musicisti stabili fece erroneamente pensare che il progetto musicale era diventato un altro progetto che del vecchio aveva mantenuto solo il moniker, ma non fu così, dal momento che le caratteristiche principali dei Tony Tears furono mantenute. Tony infatti compose e incise oltre la chitarra anche le tastiere nei brani metal e tutti gli strumenti nei brani strumentali mantenendo così tutte le caratteristiche iniziali del progetto. Il genere dei Tony Tears da sempre esplora la musica a 360° non dà limiti; soprattutto nei brani più di impostazione electronic/prog in stile colonna sonora ma lo stesso vale per i brani più rock dove sarebbe troppo limitante denominarli doom. Il termine che piace di più all’artista per definire la sua musica è “dark metal” e musica in stile colonna sonora. La formazione attuale di Tony Tears è formata da Daniel Iron (bass, Damnation Gallery) David Krieg (Vocals – Soul of Enoch), Tony Tears (Guitars) Lawrence Butleather (drums) e Sandra Silver (ex Paul Chain – Vocals)” mentre e' entrato a far parte della band Flux (keyboards).

The choice to include stable musicians mistakenly made us think that the musical project had become another project that of the old had kept only the moniker, but it was not so, since the main characteristics of Tony Tears were retained. Tony in fact composed and recorded beyond the guitar also the keyboards in the metal songs and all the instruments in the instrumental songs thus maintaining all the initial characteristics of the project. The genre of Tony Tears has always explored music at 360 ° gives no limits; especially in the most electronic/prog songs in soundtrack style but the same goes for the more rock songs where it would be too limiting to call them doom. The term that the artist likes the most to define his music is "dark metal" and soundtrack-style music.
