• Morbid Cruelty "Holodomor" LP

Hailing from Santiago, Chile's MORBID CRUELTY was formed in the beginning of 2018 by Alvaro Llanquitruf (drums and vocals) and Matias Ubeda (guitars and bass). Both members are active in the Chilean scene, most prominently in Atomic Aggressor and Perversor, respectively. With such a distinguished pedigree, it's not surprising to find that MORBID CRUELTY executes ancient death metal infused with South American madness - more specifically, the technique and brutality of the late '80s / early '90s Floridian scene (Incubus, Death, Morbid Angel, R.A.V.A.G.E, Obituary, etc) and the raw bestiality of the '80s Latin American scene (Sepultura, Parabellum, Death Yell, Mortem, Darkness, etc). The band’s lyric inspiration is purely based on death, developed around historical events, and blasphemy as central themes. In 2019, MORBID CRUELTY released their first demo tape, including three tracks of death metal made in the old way. This marked the path for what was going to be Holodomor, the band’s debut album. Released during the summer of 2021 but only on CD in their native Chile, Holodomor is a literal blast from the past. From songwriting to execution to even production, Holodomor could rightfully be time-stamped "1989" - or, at the very latest 1991 - and no one would be the wiser. However, that's hardly a slight, as it speaks to MORBID CRUELTY's utterly authentic (and utterly SAVAGE) style of death metal: many may attempt it, but extremely few succeed quite like this. But even with a sound so sulfurous, there's a refreshingly refined side to Holodomor; one could even call it "classy," if the duo's dervishes weren't so unremittingly evil. Either way, the album's truly a rare gem. Feeling duty call, IRON BONEHEAD now unearths that gem and releases Holodomor on vinyl format. MORBID CRUELTY spread their black-leather wings across the world!
